Workshops and Work Swaps
Group Events and Match-ups
Below is more information about our projects designed to efficiently grow our network of helpful, educated, dog care providers.
These projects are a mix of group classes and “match-ups”. We are indexing the skills and needs of our human and canine participants. A “match-up” is when we pair together members of the community whom would mutually benefit from the collaboration.
If any of the below projects interest you please contact us.
These projects include:
Day care, boarding and dog walking collaboratives. This will look like a co-op, or skills swap within the community. If I can walk someone’s dog on the weekends but need someone to walk my dog a couple days during the week, this will be the network board for that.
Canine separation anxiety training assistance. Our trainers will teach you how to solve issues regarding canine separation anxiety, and you will be primed to be able to help others. In the early stages of the work, the dog should not be left alone. People often need the physical presence of other people for when they must leave the house. We’ll be connecting these people. Once an individual learns how to help with separation anxiety, they are more than just dog sitters. They can help in ways to make progress rather than undo it and can possibly do it as a time trade in order to receive help with their training issue.
Proper puppy socialization meet-ups. Puppy play groups for healthy, vaccinated puppies, facilitated by a professional and interspersed with fun training games.
Trainer-assisted dog play groups. A play group for adolescent or adult dogs. It won’t be the wild west like at a dog park, and so it can help dogs learn manners and confidence and impulse control while playing. This might not be an appropriate event for all dogs or may not help all humans to reach their canine-goals.
Aggressive or reactive dog training set-ups. Learning the skills to help your dog overcome on-leash aggression or reactivity is often easier than enlisting help from people with calm dogs to act as decoys for your practice sessions. We coordinate multi-dog practice sessions and with trainers or skilled assistants available to boost your kick-start your confidence.
Trainer mentorship. Trainers-in-training quickly begin helping others under our guidance. Keep in mind that we use advanced, science-based methods backed by modern research. We do not rely on pack-theory folklore or punishment-based dominance paradigms.
Service task-specific workshops. While there is no governing body to qualify or disqualify service dogs, the definition of a service dog by the ADA is a dog that is “individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.” Reset Dog Training Network is skilled at training dogs and training people at how to acquire task-specific behaviors. Currently we are equipped to render this knowledge one-on-one. Eventually we shall have service-task specific workshops, both in person and virtual.
The above projects require participants eager to receive the knowledge, as well as enthusiastic assistants, finances and locations. We are gradually gaining momentum!
